Common Questions
FAQ
Find answers to common questions about FOB & Co pocket watches, shipping, returns, gifting, watch types and choosing the right design.
Q. What is a mechanical pocket watch?
A. A mechanical watch is powered by a wound mainspring. Hand-wound movements need winding using the crown; automatic movements can also wind through a rotor as the watch moves. Check the product specifications to identify the movement.
Q. How do I keep a hand-wound pocket watch running?
A. Wind it using the crown as directed in our Warranty and Instructions. Carrying a hand-wound watch does not wind it automatically. How long it runs between winds depends on the movement and how fully it has been wound; do not force the crown when you feel resistance.
Q. Should I choose mechanical or quartz?
A. Both are valid pocket-watch movements. A hand-wound watch offers a traditional winding routine; quartz uses a battery and does not need daily winding. FOB & Co sells both movement types, including quartz models in the Swiss Pocket Watches collection. Check the individual listing rather than assuming every watch uses the same movement.
Q. What shipping do you use?
A. We use tracked Australia Post services. In-stock items dispatch from Brisbane in 1–2 business days. Classique custom orders ship in 2–3 weeks. FOB & Co backorders ship in 1–2 months. Engraving adds 2–4 business days. See Shipping & Payment for current charges and transit estimates.
Q. What if I don’t like the design when I receive it?
A. Change-of-mind returns and exchanges are accepted within 60 days of delivery on unworn, un-engraved FOB & Co watches in their original packaging; return postage is at your cost. Engraved watches are excluded from change-of-mind returns; contact us if an item is faulty. For a custom-made Classique Swiss watch, contact us first to discuss whether an exchange is possible; it is not guaranteed. Start with our returns or exchange form and see the Help Centre for the full conditions.
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Faulty items are always covered.
